The United States Conference of Catholic Bishop’s (USCCB) in 2002 created the Charter for the Protection of Young People. The Charter was updated and re-affirmed in 2018 to sustain and strengthen a Safe Environment for all children, teens, youth and vulnerable adults in the Catholic Church. The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City through its programs, organizations and events, has numerous daily contacts with many minors and vulnerable adults. It is, therefore, important that all Archdiocesan personnel, clergy, seminarians, religious, employees and volunteers protect the rights of children and vulnerable adults and be alert to the possibility for child abuse and abuse of vulnerable adults.
All Saints Catholic School requires all employees and volunteers to complete the Safe Environment protocol prior to interaction with students. This includes, but is not limited to, all teachers, staff members, coaches, Scout Leaders and volunteers in any capacity during or outside of the school day.
Safe Environment, also known as Safe & Sacred, is now an annual online training program as of July 2020. The Safe & Sacred Training year runs from August 1st through July 31st. This protocol includes a background check every 3 years and a background questionnaire every year. The Archdiocesan policy for SE includes the following:
- Creating a user account in the training portal
- Submission of a background check application
- References: three (3) completed & accepted on file
- Completion of annual training in the Safe & Sacred System
- Agreeing and adhering to the Code of Conduct & Social Media Agreement
Until all steps have been completed in the online training portal, employees and volunteers may not serve at the parish, school, or organization. For the online reference form, please visit Reference Form and share the link with your three references. Family members and clergy may not act as references.

Children learn age-appropriate concepts introduced in the early years and build upon those concepts as the child grows. This program is designed for school aged children PreK through 12th grade. This training is conducted annually by trained parish and/or school personnel and the materials for the course can be viewed in the Safe & Sacred system in the Children’s Learning Program section.
